Coaching Life

Here are some of my favorite life skills:

First, silence. This is not for everybody! Those who have recently been through heavy trauma can feel more comfortable when things are moving and grooving. For those who can sit with their thoughts and feelings, I highly recommend this practice. Some call it meditation, some call it chill time. Call it whatever you want. As long as you are paying attention to what comes to the surface, you are on the right track. Sit back and watch your subconscious work! Please feel free to bring your findings into our sessions. It makes for excellent coaching and conversation.

Second, I love journaling. I own approximately a dozen journaling-based workbooks. If you’re interested, I would be happy to recommend the one that would be best for your particular circumstances, once we get to know each other. This information will be included in the welcome packet that you receive upon sign-up. The prompts are very deep and thought-provoking, so please share what you are willing to do in sessions.

Third and fourth, exercise and nature. I find that when my mind is running wild, I need to get outside of it. I need to use my body to do productive, sometimes mindless, tasks that make my life better. Like tending to the garden. Going to the gym. Cooking a healthy meal. Watching something that isn’t violent. Your mind and body will thank you for these acts of kindness toward yourself. They all release natural endorphins that make us feel happier and think more positively going forward. Try it out and let me know how it goes!

Lastly, phone a friend. Be on the lookout for people in your life who make you feel validated, seen, and worthy. You’ll feel it in your body. A sensation of groundedness and belonging. This means that you got out of your flight or flight state by connecting with another. It doesn’t matter who it is! It could be your mom, cousin, friend who moved away, partner, or even a simple prayer to someone who has passed. The way you connect and relate to others is up to you! I’m not here to tell you who to be. I’m here to empower you to achieve your goals and live the best life that you possibly can.
